1979年45岁时第一次随团去法国和德国参观。当时我能阅 读自己熟悉的专业书刊，算是代表团中英语水平比较高的。但一到外国，除了一般的'问候语以外几乎都听不懂，说不了，所以根本听 不懂技术讲解。对于熟悉的专业书面材料，如果是用大写字母写成的说明，一时还反应不过来，需要在脑子中翻译成小写才看得懂。 代表团团长还不时地鼓励我“胆子大一些”。其实哪里是什么胆子大小的问题，听不懂，说不了，看不懂，哪里来的胆子？

第二天，报成绩时，我的心“扑通扑通”地跳着，脑神经简直绷到了极点。虽然得到了一个不错的成绩：98。5，但是那依然不是我心目中理想的成绩。果然，我没听清楚的那道听力题不出所料错了和一个单词少了复数形式的“S”。顿生悔意，如果我当时检查一遍或许就只会错一道题了。
这次考试，因为我粗心和对题目的轻视而犯下的错误，铭刻在我的脑海里，从今以后我不能再让自己重蹈覆辙，要认认真真地做好每一件事。
